We are honored to have our Founder, Prof. Rose-Margaret Ekeng-Itua, deliver the Keynote Address for the 50th Anniversary of the Afro-American Cultural and Historical Society. The Society was founded by student leaders in 1969 and was the first Black cultural center in the Ivy League.

From its inception, the House was dedicated to asking questions and seeking truth. Its founding is linked to the establishment of Yale’s African American Studies Program, also one of the first in the nation. This milestone occurred at a time of crisis in the United States.

We send our hearty congratulations to the House on its 50th Anniversary. We hope it remains a place for seeking truth.
