On September 16, 2025, our Founder, Prof. Rose-Margaret Ekeng-Itua, was honored with the prestigious Women in Cooling Empowerment Award.

Prof. Rose-Margaret Ekeng-Itua is a renowned engineer, scholar, and innovator, widely recognized for her contributions to environmental sustainability, renewable energy advocacy, and African-led innovation. She has been a driving force in the manufacturing sector, particularly in refrigeration and air conditioning, working to increase the participation of women and provide practical educational opportunities.

This award, presented by UNIDO, UNDP, and the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigeria, recognizes her exceptional contributions as the first chair of the UNIDO Working Group. It also highlights her support for the UNIDO Charity Kpabep Scholarship Programme, which empowers women to pursue careers in the refrigeration and air conditioning manufacturing sector.

The honor aligns with the 2025 World Ozone Day theme: “From Science to Global Action”, reflecting her commitment to advancing science-driven policies and practical solutions for Africa’s sustainable development.

Representation at the Event

While Prof. Rose-Margaret could not be physically present, she was proudly represented by Barrister Rachel Nsefik-Eyo, who received the award on her behalf. Her participation ensured that the ATII vision of innovation, sustainability, and empowerment was strongly echoed throughout the celebration.
